Sinopsis:
- [propia] Hong Kong, 1942.
Carl Zha, en twitter, el 19 de septiembre de 2019, escribió:方蘭, nicknamed 方姑, teacher turned Squad leader of Communist guerrillas Hong Kong Independent Battalion of the East River Column, the only guerrillas in Japanese occupied Hong Kong.
Born in Hong Kong in 1921, joined Chinese Communist Party in 1938, a legend in Occupied HK. 方蘭 was influenced by her mother 馮芝, who took her to anti-Japan rally in Hong Kong after Japanese occupation of Manchuria in 1931. Mom acted as messenger for her guerrilla squad in Hong Kong, was arrested by colonial Sikh police in 1944, executed by Imperial Japanese Navy.
Wu Kau Tang Martyr Memorial commemorated 115 martyrs of the Hong Kong Independent Battalion of the East River Column, only guerilla force in Japanese Occupied Hong Kong. Hong Kong protesters showed profund disrespect to these real defenders of HK by defacing the Memorial.
Story of 方蘭 and her band of Communist guerrillas in WW2 Hong Kong was made into a movie “Our Time Will Time” 明月幾時有 in 2017 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the handover of Hong Kong from Britain to China in 1997.
方蘭 portrayed by Chinese actress 周迅 Zhou Xun
方蘭’s love interest in the movie “Our Time Will Come” 明月幾時有 is real legend of Japanese Occupied Hong Kong “Blackie” Lau 劉黑仔, Leader of the Handgun squad of the Communist guerrillas Hong Kong Independent Battalion, who rescued American pilot Donald Kerr. 6 month after Japanese Surrender in Hong Kong, “Blackie” Lau 劉黑仔 band of Communist guerrillas was attacked by KMT forces in Guangdong on May 1st, 1946. Lau died of infection from bullet wound.
Per agreement brokered by US envoy George Marshal btw KMT and Communist, 2583 men and women of Communist East River Column in Guangdong boarded American transport ship in Mirs Bay in Hong Kong to evacuate to Shandong Communist base on June 30th, 1946.
East River Column was made into Cantonese Column of PLA in Shandong province in 1947 during Chinese Civil War. 方蘭 worked Hong Kong underground til 1948.
She lived til 1998, saw the handover of Hong Kong from UK to China.
