Sinopsis:
steviethecarpenter, en IMDb, el 16 de noviembre de 2007, escribió:Fraude is revealing, emotive and with a good amount of denounce and exhibition of politicians corruption For those who don't like Obrador and want to see the movie, I give you a warning: its a López Obrador movie, you wont find real criticisms against him or his followers. But it has a good reason for doing so: all of the criticisms have been thoroughly ventilated and repeated by mainstream media, giving no voice to the counter part, and thats exactly what this movie does. The first part of the movie shows López Obrador in a way no other media has ever portrayed him, allowing him to express freely his opinions, admit his mistakes and explain the reasons for his most controversial decicions. In the second part I find the most valuable material: the footage from voluntary citizens who recorded the multiple anomalies in the Electoral Districts all over Mexico. Such amateur footage includes: functionaries not willing to make a recount when the voting numbers didn't match in particular polling places, officials voiding votes that were clearly intended for Obrador, ballot burning, and many other illegal acts and anomalies that show the way certainty was systematically denied by the Electoral Institute.
In conclusion I recommend this movie entirely for many reasons. One is you wont find this material on television or other mass media, and second this is the opinion of millions of mexicans who have never found their voice heard by mainstream media, and here they are allowed to express themselves. And finally this is a piece of history, it shows the facts, the evidences and the reflections to better understand what happened in Mexico's elections in 2006.
"Fraude: Mexico 2006," directed by Luis Mandoki, had been seen by nearly a quarter million by the end of its second week, which already puts it behind only "Fahrenheit 911" and "March of the Penguins." Distribution plans for Mandoki's vision of the disputed 2006 election were disrupted after Warner Bros. backed out of an initial offer to release the film. Mandoki's unabashedly partisan documentary, largely narrated by Lopez Obrador himself, claims a conspiracy of right-wing politicians, including then-acting president Vicente Fox and shady former president Carlos Salinas, stole the 2006 presidential election from him. Conservative Felipe Calderon was eventually named Mexico's next president by the nation's electoral court after a legal battle and street protests by Lopez Obrador supporters.
Juan Manuel Borbolla, head of Warner Bros. Mexico, said the studio decided "Fraude" didn't have B.O. appeal. But Mandoki said Warner had buckled under pressure from its local partner, Televisa. The film alleges top Televisa execs Emilio Azcarraga Jean and Bernardo Gomez played a part in a smear campaign against Lopez Obrador in the run-up to the election. Warner shares offices with Televisa film-arm Videocine and uses the company to book its releases. Mandoki eventually found "Fraude" distribution with indie Decine. While some critics have blasted the film's partisan take, Mandoki shrugs it off. "Mexico is in real trouble in terms of corruption and impunity," he says. "This has been my little grain of salt to add to the struggle for democracy in Mexico."
