Sinopsis:
- Narra una historia, que comienza en la década de los cincuenta, sobre la búsqueda de una cura para el cáncer y el impacto que tuvo la búsqueda de un remedio para la enfermedad en Henrietta Lacks, "la mujer que nunca moriría" porque sus células se reproducían constantemente.
This Curtis documentary for Modern Times follows the story of the cells of Henriettta Lacks. Lacks died of cancer in 1951, but cells were removed from her body and cultivated in a laboratory in the hope that they could help find a cure for cancer. The cells (known as the HeLa line) have been growing ever since, and the scientists found that they were growing in ways they could not control. They were put into mass production and traveled around the globe - even into space, on an unmanned satellite to determine whether human tissues could survive zero gravity.
