El Dr. Hunter S. Thompson es un periodista que tiene una forma muy particular de practicar su oficio. AMG SYNOPSIS: Based on the writings and experiences of "gonzo" journalist Hunter S. Thompson, Where The Buffalo Roam details the adventures of Thompson (Bill Murray) and his attorney (Peter Boyle), whose character is rewritten as Mexican-American rather than Samoan, as they pillage and plunder their way across America on a drunken, drug-saturated mission to...well, their mission is as yet undetermined, but they set about it anyway. Highlights include a staged broadcast of the Super Bowl from Thompson's hotel room and a scene in which he escapes from the police with a little help from his trusty sidekick. -- Jeremy Beday

AMG REVIEW: Where the Buffalo Roam would seem a sure-fire hit; unfortunately, it falls far short of its potential. The script seems at a loss to tell a coherent, unified story; the direction is confused and muddled; and the reason Thompson ever became a cult hero to begin with is completely lost in the shuffle (Thompson fans seem deeply offended by this portrayal). Bill Murray does a passable impression, Peter Boyle acts like he knows what it means to be stoned, and a good score by Canadian rocker Neil Young helps a little, but overall, Where the Buffalo Roam adds up to an hour and a half of time better spent in other ways -- any other way. A somewhat more faithful depiction of Thompson's life and times exists in 1998's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, a more literal interpretation of Thompson's best-selling account of his days as a journalist for Rolling Stone. -- Jeremy Beday
